Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I get to Nanaimo?

A: BC Ferries from Horseshoe Bay (West Vancouver) or Tsawwassen (Vancouver), seaplane service from downtown Vancouver or Vancouver Airport (YVR), or land based from Vancouver Airport (YVR) to Nanaimo Airport (YCD).

 

Q: If I walk on the ferries or fly, is there shuttle service available to the hotel?

A: Yes, from all transportation when pre-arranged. Phone 250-758-6535.

 

Q: When is registration?

A: Friday night from 1800hrs to 2100hrs. A light snack and social runs concurrently with registration. Registration is also available prior to 0800hrs Saturday morning.

 

Q: What is the dress for the conference?

A: Casual. Dress for comfort.

 

Q: Are there any organized tours?

A: No, but we can assist you if you are coming prior, staying after, or bringing a significant other to the conference.

 

Q: Should we bring pins/patches for trading?

A: It has been done in the past and is an individual choice.

 

Q: Is billeting available?

A: Yes, a limited amount.

 

Q: Do we have to bring binders/pens etc?

A: No, binders, pens, and paper have been donated and will be available for all delegates.

 

Q: Who should attend?

A: Any member of a Crime Watch/Citizens on Patrol group who is looking for additional knowledge and training from experts in their fields. If you have never been to one of our symposiums, this one is ideally situated in Nanaimo and offers a cross-section of training programs and general knowledge sessions.
