Recruiting

Nanaimo Citizens on Patrol is seeking volunteers to join its program. Whether you are looking for

an extra curricular activity, trying to gain volunteer experience, looking at a future in policing, or

ant to assist police in the betterment of your community by reducing crime, we can fill that need.

We are a fully independent body using two-way radio and cell phones to keep in contact with

a central office to protect the lives of our members. We are often called by police to check

addresses for disturbances, to wait for tow trucks at the scene of an impaired vehicle, and to check

for stolen vehicles. We monitor a database of over 165,000 stolen vehicles to check vehicles in

the greater Nanaimo area and provide eyes and ears during community events such as fireworks,

bathtub days, and parades.

Nanaimo Citizens on Patrol make a difference. In the past 20 years, their volunteers, aged 20

and up, have assisted police in recovering stolen property and vehicles, reporting impaired

drivers and illegal liquor sales, and helping to curb vandalism. If you have 6 hours a month, you

can help in making Nanaimo a safer community. You will receive training in several aspects of

police work and become part of a team dedicated to an important cause. We work varied hours

and can give you a schedule to fit your lifestyle. We are currently looking for volunteers who

want to contribute time to their community and the police. If you are a resident of the area, have

no criminal record, are at least 19 years of age and have a valid BC Drivers license, you may

be suitable as a volunteer with our group. For more information, give us a call at 250.758.6535
